If you feel that you have something to offer the youth
of today, can give a commitment of one or two evenings
a week plus 4 or 5 weekends a year, then why not consider
becoming an Adult Instructor with Somerset Army Cadet
Force. All adults in the ACF are youth workers so there
is no danger of military "call up"
Without adult instructors the Army Cadet Force just
could not function. Opportunities currently exist for
dedicated and responsible Adult Leaders, male and female.
As an Adult Instructor you will have desire, enthusiasm
and commitment to work with young people. You do not
need to have had a military background yourself, although
previous service in the armed forces or the cadets would
be an advantage.
No one expects you to take charge and lead a group
of Cadets without the proper training and equipment.
All the necessary training is given, either within the
County or at the Cadet Training Centre at Frimley Park,
Surrey. Courses are from two days to two weeks, covering
all aspects of teaching and training, many of them recognised
in the civilian world.
Adult leaders fall into two categories:
Adult instructors of any rank may be considered for
a commission at any time in their ACF service.
No one joins the Army Cadet Force for financial rewards,
although you can receive up to 28 days pay for your efforts
and be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses. People become
Adult Instructors for the enormous sense of satisfaction
for a worthwhile job well done.
