| On
the 30th of June, Fox's Platoon held a charity car boot
sale on Bishop Fox's field and with the help of Fox's
cadets and adults the event was very successful. Approximately
400 people attended including those who came to set up
the car boot sale.
Not only was there a great interest
in the car boot sale but the other stalls such as BBQ,
face painting, cake and sweet sale, Laser -lock on shooting
game, raffle, tom bola, military radio command task
and camp craft stand.
The raffle was a real success as
it drew a lot of people. There were excellent prizes,
which included a tour around orchard fm studio and a
limo ride. Overall we raised approximately £450.
All the proceeds made from the event
have gone to a project called Seeds of Hope. The project
is organised by a charity called 'Soap box'. The aim
of the project is to raise awareness and money for a
primary school in a Kenyan slum, which Sjt Gray visited
in the February half term of this year.
As it is going to be knocked down
this summer, the money is going to be used to relocate
and rebuild the school. The money has been added to
the total raised by several schools over the last year.
This event has meant that we are now over the target
amount of £22 500. So Becky (co- organiser) and
Sjt Gray would like to say a BIG thank you to all those
involved with the running of the event as it is greatly
appreciated by all those involved in the project. Also
Sjt Gray personally would like to thank all the adults
at Fox's Platoon for supporting her with organising
the event.
For more details on the charity and
project you can visit the website: www.soapboxtrust.com.
This also has video footage of the project (including
those who went on the trip!).
This is the primary school, which is going to be knocked
down. It currently provides an education for 200 children
out of a million people living in the slum. Education
is their only way out!
